DeKalb Iron and Metal Company has a long history as the leader in new metal and scrap metal recycling services in Northern Illinois. After nearly a decade of building a successful business based on quality service at affordable prices, it was time for the company to spread its services online with an information-based website.
DIMCO approached DRWS to build a website, not knowing really where to even begin. After a thorough Discovery Phase, where we worked closely with the client to map out how the website needs to function from both an end-user and a business practice perspective, DRWS was able to break down the architecture of the site to serve the company's two audiences: new metal customers and scrap recycling customers. Each audience is looking for different information about what the company offers, so it was vital that each be addressed through appropriate navigation and call-to-action graphics.
One of the most sought after pieces of information is the current cost of cans. To address the hundreds of phone calls received by DIMCO staff, we created an editable widget on the homepage of the site to notify site viewers of the current market price for cans.
DIMCO also wanted to extend its coupon offerings to entice can redemption. Prior to the website, the coupon was only offered in print publications, however DRWS added an online coupon element to the new website that enables customers to go online and print out the coupon at their convenience.
From a blank start to a vibrant finish, DRWS partnered with DIMCO to develop a website that will help the company better serve its customers and grow its business.
