The Johnsburg School District 12 was experiencing a common issue facing educational institutions in our web-based generation: numerous audiences to talk to; vasts amounts of important information; no content standards or structure to support many website contributors.
As a result, Johnsburg was not effectively reaching its audiences with the appropriate information quickly and easily. This prevented the district from being as valuable of a resource to parents, students, teachers/staff and the community.
DRWS was approached to take on this multi-phased project. As part of Phase I, we consulted Johnsburg on site architecture and helped identify the various types of content that would appear throughout the site.
The main district site was the first to be rebuild using Drupal, which enabled us to define how various types of content would be appear on the live site. By dynamically generating styling for content types, the risk of varying header styles or body copy font was eliminated.
Due to the sheer amount of information the district must make available to audiences, dedicated call-to-actions were necessary to direct traffic to the appropriate resources. Having targeted navigation for staff, parents and board members drastically increased the effectiveness of the district's website, enabling visitors to find what they are looking for quicker and easier.
Utilizing the multi-domain access, DRWS will roll out sites for the four schools under Johnsburg School District 12 in the coming months, so check back for more information!
